The police had obtained a search warrant to search our client's home, where various narcotics had been seized. Me Maxime Raymond represented the interests of the Quebec Association of Lawyers and Defense Lawyers (Aqaad) before the Supreme Court of Canada in the Sharma case. This case dealt with the availability of conditional sentencing (house imprisonment) for certain criminal offenses and the constitutionality of certain provisions of the criminal code. Mr. Raymond's representations on behalf of the aqaad were aimed at increasing the number of offenses where a conditional sentence is an available sentence.
